What do other people see in Life360?
People in your Life360 circle see the place Roam set, because Life360 is reading the iPhone location. They do not see a separate Roam pin. When you stop the simulated location, or the iPhone restarts, Life360 can show the real place again.
If you want a break from sharing, Life360 lets you pause or turn off location sharing inside the app, and the members of your Circle can see that. Life360 is often used for family safety. Tell the people who rely on it, especially in an emergency, that your shown place is not where you are.
Life360 reads the location iOS gives it. Roam changes that location on the iPhone, with no jailbreak and no computer. A VPN does not do this job: a VPN changes the IP address, not the GPS. The comparison is Does a VPN change your iPhone location?

What does Roam not promise?
Other people see the chosen place. That is the point, and the limit. After an iPhone restart the phone goes back to its real location, and you set the place again in Roam. Roam does not promise that Life360 cannot detect a simulated location, and it does not promise that a ban or another restriction is impossible.
Find My shows the place you chose, and no simulated label appears there. The location is still simulated.
